***: Reporting to the Manager of Accounting Support, the Finance Officer works as part of a team that assists with the analysis and reconciliation of Departmental financial data. The position plays an integral role in processing month end journals and reconciliations to meet audit and financial reporting requirements. The position will demonstrate a high level of proficiency and expertise in the reconciliation of data and department corporate systems.
Accountabilities:
- Ensure the timely and accurate completion of complex account reconciliations and system reconciliations, annual account working papers, financial reports, briefings and other ad hoc reports and correspondence in accordance with internal and external reporting requirements.
- Provide high level accounting support for the administration and reconciliation of the corporate financial, subsidiary, banking and cash management systems including the tracking, escalation and management of system defects, reconciliation items and data remediation activities.
- Manage transactions using departmental corporate systems, maintain financial systems that support delivery of bestpractice, contemporary financial management and services and identify issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Liaise with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders and ensure a high level of client service delivery.
- Review transaction and/or system generated exception reports and proactively seek to resolve or appropriately refer more complex problems to senior officers.
- Comply with the _Financial Management Act 1994_ and other relevant legislation, regulations and government directives, policies and guidelines.
- Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
