Your new job

As the Youth Peer Worker, you will be involved in the design and development of Virtual Reality interventions and will assist in developing treatment protocols for pilot trials and supporting young people in using the platform.

You will also share your lived experience with the research team to meet the needs of young people.
Reporting to the Project Leads, Orygen Digital you will:

  • Assist in recruiting young people to co-design workshops and running the workshops alongside the research team.
  • Take opportunities within the organisation to share their personal experience they are comfortable to share to improve the virtual world platform and proposed interventions using the platform.
  • Review and prepare written materials under the direction of the project leadership team.
  • Provide input into the development of research and intervention protocols for pilot studies.

The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:


  • Aged between 18 and 25 years for the duration of their employment term.
  • Personal lived experience of mental ill health challenges with any of the following: mental health, physical health, alcohol and other drug and/or work and study.
  • Knowledge of the youth mental health system and support services for young people.
  • Passionate and determined to make a difference to the health outcomes for young people.
