Position Summary


An opportunity exists in Western Public Health Unit (WPHU) for a person with expertise in and a passion for strategic and operational workforce planning.


The Workforce Planning Lead will will be responsible for planning and coordinating initiatives related to the department's workforce under the guidance of the Operations Manager.

The role works closely with the Senior Leadership Team and Team Leaders across the unit to develop and implement consistent systems and processes to ensure a productive and effective workforce.

The position will be required to provide both a strategic and operational focus to workforce planning, development, wellbeing and recruitment.


The Workforce Planning Lead will also supervise a team of Administrative and Business Systems Assistants, who provide telephony and administrative support to the unit.

WPHU has been established to strengthen the public health response to infectious diseases and other health issues.

The Unit is part of a system of three metropolitan Public Health Units Western (WPHU), North Eastern (NEPHU), South Eastern (SEPHU) and six regional Public Health Units to provide a new state-wide system of public health delivery and oversight.


WPHU is led and coordinated by Western Health and responsible for approximately 1.3m people in the LGA's of Maribyrnong, Moonee Valley, Hobson's Bay, Merri-bek, Melbourne, Brimbank, Melton and Wyndham.

Initially, WPHU was responsible for COVID-related activities in collaboration with the Department of Health (DH).

However, now local public health units are taking increasing responsibility for many of the current DH Communicable and non-communicable disease and population health promotion activities in their assigned catchments, as part of the state's overall public health response.


Role specifications
Full time or substantial part time temprorary position until 30 June 2024.

Remuneration:
HS4 rate with an above award allowance, plus superannuation and salary packaging tax benefits.
