    Job Description:


    The Assistant Accountant – Reporting and Analysis contributes to the consistent and efficient implementation of the City's financial accounting and reporting functions, contributing to the wider financial control environment, with a focus on accuracy, timeliness and relevance to the needs of users. The position also seeks opportunities for continuous improvement to help the

    City deliver on its purpose to Lead, Govern and Serve and achieve Sustainable Sydney 2030 to 2050.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Contribute to the City's compliance with Goods and Service Tax (GST) legislation by management reporting and completion of financial returns to the Australian Bureau of completion of the annual Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) return within required timeframes workpapers for annual financial statements, contributions to monthly and quarterly
    • Support financial reporting compliance requirements through completion of audit-ready completing monthly Business Activity Statements for review and support.
    • Prepare and maintain the City's grants register, to accurately recognise grants received and monitor associated expenditure
    • Deliver month-end balance sheet reconciliations within agreed timetable and complete associated analysis and corrective actions arising from review.

    Job Requirements:

    • Understanding and knowledge of accounting rules and concepts (incorporating accounting standards and statutory reporting requirements)
    • Analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work accurately with attention to detail and commitment to meeting deadlines
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

    Qualification & Experience:

    • Extensive experience in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
    • Tertiary degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Business, Commerce, Accounting)
