Job location
Thomas Embling Hospital, located in Fairfield just 15 minutes north of the Melbourne city centre. Due to our announced expansion, we have a need for experienced like-minded professionals to join our team.

Thomas Embling Hospital is a secure Mental Health, currently 134 bed, hospital providing acute care, rehabilitation, and continuing care programs.

With planned expansion commencing 2024 with significant increase in access to care, we will have a dedicated Women's service and an additional medium secure men's facility.

About the Role:


The Occupational Therapy Assistants will work directly with the support of the Occupational Therapists and the broader multidisciplinary team to promote, facilitate and enhance opportunities for patients to participate in meaningful, productive and fulfilling individual and group-based activities, occupations and programs.


Duties:


  • Facilitate individual intervention sessions in line with OT goals and document observations and consumer feedback to reflect the experiences of same.
  • Facilitation of activity based group interventions, and support of other programs being facilitated
  • Maintain group attendance records and conduct group evaluations
  • Complete allocated tasks to support service preparation and delivery, including audits, resource development and proposals
  • Work individually and in small groups with consumers to promote activity, engagement and create a sense of meaningful time use
  • Contribute to the enrichment of the therapeutic milieu of the hospital campus through promoting social connection and places of belonging

About You:


  • Experience in supporting delivery of group and individual interventions
  • Creative solution focused person
  • Passionate about the benefits of activity, engagement and social connection on health and wellbeing
  • Confident with time management and prioritisation of tasks
  • Consumer focused in all aspects of care planning and provision

What you need:


  • Hold a Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or be in the 3rd or final year of an accredited undergraduate allied health course.
