The organisation:


The Uniting Church in Australia (the Church) is a large uniquely Australian Christian denomination in Australia with heritage from historical reformed evangelical denominations.

In Queensland, the Uniting Church has around 250 congregations and has early childhood, schools, colleges and large community services (such as UnitingCare Queensland and Wesley Mission Queensland).


The Uniting Church is multicultural, committed to reconciliation with First Peoples, calls for reconciliation across its communities and aims to use its people and property resources wisely and in the furtherance of God's mission in the world.


Position purpose:

The eLearning Officer plays a pivotal role in advancing Trinity College Queensland's commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.

This position is responsible for developing and implementing innovative and flexible eLearning that align with the college's mission and values as well as Trinity's Higher Education Provider the Australian College of Theology.

The eLearning Coordinator will be collaborating with faculty, staff, and students to enhance the digital learning experience, ensuring that technology is effectively integrated into the curriculum.


Key responsibilities:


Curriculum Development:


  • Collaborate with Faculty to design and develop eLearning content (lectures, pod casts, video, handout etc.) that aligns with course objectives and student learning outcomes.
  • Create engaging and interactive online modules, incorporating multimedia elements and interactive assessments.
  • Ensure accessibility and usability of eLearning materials for diverse learners.

Faculty Support:


  • Provide training and support to faculty members on eLearning tools, platforms, and best practices.
  • In conjunction with the principal foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging faculty to explore innovative teaching methods using technology

Quality Assurance:


  • Monitor the quality of eLearning content, ensuring alignment with instructional design principles and pedagogical best practices.
  • Conduct regular assessments and evaluations to measure the effectiveness of eLearning initiatives.

Student Engagement:


  • Facilitate student engagement in online learning environments.
Promote active participation, discussion, and collaboration among students through virtual platforms.


Technical Administration:

Manage the college's Learning Management System (LMS) and other eLearning tools.

Troubleshoot technical issues and provide timely support to students and faculty.


Innovation and Research:

Stay informed about emerging trends and technologies in eLearning.

Explore opportunities for integrating virtual reality, gamification, and other innovative approaches into the curriculum.


Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with academic departments, IT services, and administrative teams to ensure seamless integration of eLearning initiatives.

Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing updates and promoting eLearning resources.

Model the values of the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod in day-to-day work including interactions with managers, lay staff, ministry agents, clients, and stakeholders.

Compliance with Queensland Synod policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.

Comply with Health and Safety directions and Public Health directions.


Key performance indicators:

Demonstrate improvement in LMS quality of content and functionality for both the faculty and the students.

Implement the operational plan within accepted variance in consultation with the Principal.

Ensure that sufficient controls are in place to manage risks and compliance obligations, if applicable.

Comply with delegations of the Office of Synod where delegations have been permanently or temporarily assigned to the position.

Maintain alignment with the Office of Synod purpose, culture and values (values referenced under additional requirements).

Selection criteria:


Qualifications:
Degree in Education

Degree in Theology (would be helpful)


Experience and skills:
Experience in eLearning development or education technology

Proficiency in LMS administration

Strong communication and collaboration skills


A commitment to, and understanding of, the ethos of the Uniting Church in Australia (for a fuller understanding of the ethos of the church, refer to _The Basis of Union_).


Demonstrated capacity in working independently and as part of a small, energetic team to achieve joint objectives and the capacity to work well within fixed deadlines and tight timeframes.

Demonstrated ability to accurately work to a brief and successfully implement initiatives using evidence-based decision making.
