The opportunity and the role

The Department of Customer Service is looking for an enthusiastic and team-orientated Legal Assistant to provide high quality clerical and administrative support to its Litigation, Commercial and/or Advice Legal teams.

The successful applicant will manage the delivery of a range of administrative duties within a busy Legal team, with a focus on administration, financial invoicing and reporting, in order to support effective service delivery.


To be successful in this role it is essential that you are motivated and a strong effective communicator with great initiative who is able to plan and prioritise work and manage competing deadlines.

The right applicant will be willing to hit the ground running, work with mínimal supervision and be client focused. Prior experience working in a legal team is desirable.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Delivering a wide range of administrative duties to support a litigation, commercial and/or advice Legal team
  • Assisting with preparation and collation of briefing documents, drafting correspondence, and providing support to lawyers with court matters
  • Maintaining accurate records of legal matters, and handling confidential and sensitive material with discretion
  • Ongoing file maintenance and closure of matters, including archiving
  • Operating Legal practice management system
  • Proficient in invoice processing and financial reporting
  • Providing quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders, and maintaining effective working relationships

About you

  • Minimum of 2 years proven administration experience, preferably in the legal industry
  • Demonstrated resilience and strong organisational skills to balance high volume workload and competing priorities.
  • Be a motivated selfstarter with great initiative committed to achieving team goals
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • High level attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite and ability to learn other systems essential
