About the Role

A new opportunity has become available to join BOQS, part of Bank of Queensland Group as the Manager for Transactional Banking Operations Located in our Sydney office, you will be joining the team during an exciting period of change.


As the Team Manager for Transactional Banking Operations you will be responsible for overseeing the day to day operational workflow and delivery of the department, ensuring that all required processing functions and system maintenance are completed accurately and within the prescribed time frames and are in accordance with operational procedures for the functions the business supports, including Credit Cards, Overdrafts, Transaction Accounts, Payment, Reconciliation and dispute investigations.


Leadership and People Management

  • Deliver outstanding leadership to the Transactional Banking Operations team, championing the ways of working
  • Coaching, development and performance discussions, via one on ones and team meetings
  • Develop, implement and regularly review role design in own team to ensure key skills and competencies are achieved so that organisational objectives will be met
  • Maintain and improve team's skills analysis in line with identified needs and corporate strategy
  • Encourage and support the team to challenge and redesign operational business processes to support a superior client experience and maximise efficiencies
  • Support a team culture that is consistent with the BOQS vision and values. Lead by having honest,respectful conversations andproviding effective feedback

Operational Excellence - Business Processes amd Procedures

  • Represent the department and provide input and lead into key projects and business changes as required
  • Lead staff to challenge and redesign business processes to support superior customer experience and cost containment
  • Keep up to date procedures for all transactional products and services

Risk Management

  • Draw on industry knowledge and experience to understand the impact of compliance and regulatory changes (such as APRA, card scheme and legislative requirements)
  • Monitor, manage and log operational risk events with effective controls implemented in a timely manner, inclusive of root cause analysis and supporting risk culture for the teams development

Financial Management

  • Ongoing management of the Department's financial budget & invoice management
  • Develop cost containmentand reduction initiatives.

Transactional Banking Operations department

  • Work closely with product managers, sales channels, lending and marketing teams to ensure a superior client value proposition is delivered
  • Contribute to the planning and support of all initiatives including project management initiatives required to achieve strategic goals
  • Create a highly focused service culture to ensure profitable growth
  • Stakeholder management, managing delivery with suppliers (including INDUE, VISA, Orion, BOQ, ANZ etc.) in relation to 3rd party alliance arrangements

About you

Experience

  • Leadership experience and sound background in transactional, cards and reconciliation processes
  • Strong stakeholder and/or vendor management, with a 'customer first' focus and collaborative mindset
  • Strong understanding of operational risks and controls
  • Strong knowledge and experience in transactional products and processes across a complex environment
  • Analytical skills and the ability to use and display operation data in a meaningful fashion to help drive business decisions
  • Experience in leading a diverse team and driving a positive team culture via operational excellence / ways of working
