About this role:


Monash Health runs the largest acute Hand Therapy service in Victoria, servicing a range of patients across the entire life span.

There is a focus on those with traumatic injuries who have received plastic and orthopaedic surgery and there will be a variety of other clinical presentations.

The Hand Therapy Team has a close relationship with the Plastics and Orthopaedics surgical teams and prides itself on delivering best care to maximise a patient's return to function.

Our commitment to service improvement also provides opportunities for involvement in research and implementation of evidence-based practice.
The team comprises occupational therapists, physiotherapists and an allied health assistant.


This Grade 1 role has been developed essentially as a training position and sits within our large Hand Therapy department of Grade 2 and 3 Hand Therapy clinicians.

It provides an excellent environment in which to start your career in hand therapy with close supervision and an abundance of learning opportunities.


What we're looking for in you:
You will be an AHPRA registered Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist with motivation to be a Hand Therapy clinician. You will possibly have either employment or student experience in acute Hand Therapy.


In this role, you will:

  • Be a clear and respectful communicator and patient advocate
  • Be clinically experienced in the delivery of acute Hand Therapy
  • Engage patients so they actively participate in their treatment and recovery
  • Acknowledge responsibility for your own learning
  • Collaborate with others in the development of department resources and research pursuits

Location:

The Hand Therapy service is primarily based at Dandenong Hospital with adjunct satellite clinics at Clayton and Casey.
