Our Perth office is growing and we are looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to join the team to process offshore and onshore payroll for employees including verification of leave accruals, allowances and deductions.


Key accountabilities:


  • Be responsible and work collaboratively with the shared service Payroll team, for the reconciliation of payroll data on a fortnightly, monthly, and ad hoc basis, processing and checking transactions to ensure payroll payments are accurate as per the local legislation and paid within required deadlines.
  • Work together in a team environment to manage accurate and up to date records in payroll and HR systems ensuring employees are paid correctly and maintain data integrity.
  • Work in conjunction with the HR and finance teams in relation to ensure data is correct and assist with adhoc reporting requirements.
  • Respond to and resolve complex enquiries and issues to ensure the provision of accurate information, and the timely and effective resolution of issues.
  • Interpret and provide sound advice on legislation, agreements, awards, policies, and procedures relevant to the work team to provide effective client service to managers and staff.
  • Ensure all payroll entries complies with relevant awards, agreements and legislation and remain up to date with relevant legislative changes that impacts payroll.
  • Contribute to the development of, internal control systems to ensure payroll and employees related reports accurately reflect the conditions of the business and comply with relevant standards.
  • Support monthly tax lodgments, yearend processes (Including FBT, Payroll Tax etc)
  • Deal with ATO enquiries
  • Manage Superannuation, TFN process to ensure joiner files, Super are processed in timely manner.
  • Providing administrative support to directorate and divisional projects and Senior HR Business Partner, as required

Essential criteria

  • 5 years + experience with Australian payroll
  • Solid understanding of awards/EBAs & payroll legislation
  • Demonstrated understanding of local taxation, PAYG, superannuation and STP reporting requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
