JOB TITLE:
OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Accountable for providing operational support to the Operations Supervisor for all oil fields and production facilities. This will be performed in a safe, efficient and environmentally sound manner. The role will be part of a team who shall prepare systems for flushing and decommissioning as well as the operation and first line maintenance of ancillary utility facilities, such as power generation within the Northern Endeavour FPSO.
  • Work in compliance with the Safety Case and all relevant Conventions, Acts, Regulations, Standards, Codes of Practice, industrial agreements and Company directives, policies, plans, objectives, procedures, and methods.
  • Respond to Facility alarms and carry out emergency duties in accordance with the Facility Emergency Response Plan or as directed.
  • Report hazards, accidents, incidents, near misses (dangerous occurrences) to the Offshore Installation Manager in accordance with the Safety Management System and propose corrective actions.
  • Participate in Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Toolbox Meetings, HAZID and Formal Safety Assessment (FSA) workshops, Facility safety meetings, audits and incident investigations as required.
  • Promote safety awareness and utilise the outcomes of JHAs and Toolbox Meetings when carrying out duties onboard the Facility.
  • Develop an understanding of the Facility Safety Case and knowledge of applicable Safety Management System (SMS) procedures.
  • Act as an Emergency Response Team member as required.
  • Monitor that all machinery is operated in a safe manner and that all operations are carried out according to correct and safe procedures as directed.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of process plant, systems, and associated equipment.
  • Preparation of systems including isolation, deisolation, depressurisation, flushing and venting of various systems in preparation for decommissioning and mothballing.
  • Ensure understanding of operating processes and procedures and roles and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of startup, operation, and shut down of process and processrelated plant, utility systems, etc.
  • Administer the PTW system as required.
  • Check out work covered by documentation to ensure systems are as outlined/operational and signs documentation to this effect.
  • Required to assist and work with other disciplines when required.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and ensure work is executed in line with Permit to Work system.
  • Put forward suggestions and develop modification requests as necessary to improve plant/equipment efficiency/safety operations.
  • Ability to interpret /markup of technical drawings.
  • Ensure safe and efficient management of chemicals where required.
  • When competent, act as Area Authority to ensure control of worksites under their sphere of influence.
  • Raise maintenance work orders to capture anomalies found during operations activities.
  • Prior to startup of any plant or equipment, inspect and confirm suitability to return to normal service.
  • Maintain good housekeeping conditions in all work sites.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:


  • Previous offshore oil and gas experience, preferably working on an FPSO.
  • Excellent practical knowledge of process / systems plant and equipment relevant to the industry sector in own discipline area.
