- Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience teaching students with Autism, Mild and Moderate Intellectual Disabilities, Behavioural difficulties and Emotional Disturbance in a Secondary Educational setting.
- As a classroom teacher in special education, you will work as part of the special education team (Thrive) to support students with a range of disabilities, including emotional disturbance. As part of this team, you will develop and implement innovative programs and ensure suitable learning supports are in place for all of our students.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate flexible and innovative teaching and learning opportunities for students with disability, with the capacity to integrate information and communication technologies.
- Demonstrated understanding of the needs of a diverse range of students, including those with emotional diagnosis and behavioural needs, with the capacity to deliver and evaluate differentiated, multi-stage cross-curriculum programs to meet the academic and pathway needs of each student.
- Knowledge, skills and experience in developing and implementing Individual Education, Health and Behaviour Plans to cater for the social, emotional, sensory and communication needs of our students.
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills working effectively with staff, parents and key stakeholders, with the capacity to contribute to inclusive practices across the whole school as a member of the Learning and Support Team. Conditions

Teaching ServicePosition InformationJerrabomberra High School is a new school which opened in 2023. Current enrolment is 132 students. It is a comprehensive, co-educational high school proudly located in the township of Jerrabomberra on the border of NSW and the ACT, only 15kms from Canberra International Airport and a short drive to the Snowy Mountains or to the South Coast.
Jerrabomberra High School commenced with Year 7 and Year 8 in 2023 and will grow each year reaching Year 7 to Year 12 by 2027. Our curriculum is innovative and framed through a project-based learning approach. We continue to be innovative and have designed our curriculum to allow students to learn and engage in modern, well-resourced and future-focused learning spaces. Our culture is truly inclusive, centred on ensuring every student is able to co-design their learning journey which aligns with their skills, interests and aspirations. Our school provides a learning environment based on high expectations and the belief that all students will grow in their time at Jerrabomberra High School. We are conscious of our role within the local and broader community, working closely with parents/carers and other community agencies to support students' academic, emotional and social development. Students will develop real-life, entrepreneurial skills to equip them with the skills, knowledge and attitudes to best navigate their individual journey in a fast-changing world. As a school, we will build the capacity of all staff to promote and develop their pedagogical practice to ensure high expectations, positive behaviours and individualised success is achieved for all students. We currently have two support unit classes, with a third commencing in 2024.
