Position Information:


Corrimal High School is situated on the northern beaches of Wollongong and provides high quality comprehensive education for 559 students from Year 7 to Year 12.

With a strong Learning Hub, the school places an emphasis on data-informed, personalised learning, including high quality instruction in literacy and numeracy, to enhance the educational achievements of all students, including 92 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, eight support classes and 10% of students from a non-English speaking background.

The school enjoys positive relationships within its community of schools and has developed strong networks across the Illawarra.


Corrimal High School is one of the Illawarra Academy of STEM Excellence schools as part of the STEM Industry Schools Partnership (SISP) Initiative and also has a small Agriculture Farm and a dedicated Aboriginal Learning & Engagement Centre.

The school is a pivotal hub for its community and is operating in the context of ongoing demographic and pedagogical change, supported by a dedicated, caring staff and an aspirational parent community.


Selection Criteria:

In addition to the general selection criteria,


  • Proven ability to drive professional learning aligned to the priorities of the Strategic Improvement Plan, build teacher capacity and nurture a culture of high expectations with staff.
  • Highly developed consultative and collegial skills which are used to engage both school based and non-school based personnel to support and manage the behavioural and welfare needs of students within a complex and diverse school setting.
  • Demonstrated collaborative leadership with the ability to work effectively as a member of the senior executive team to drive whole school improvement and change management.
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage challenging and complex competing daily situations, build positive relationships with students and families while building a positive whole school culture.

General Selection Criteria:


  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
