About the Opportunity:


CleanCo have numerous projects and deliverables planned to ensure renewable targets are met and key to this is the connection of renewable power sources to the grid.

This role will be critical in ensuring CleanCo's capacity to connect power from multiple sources and locations to the grid for end consumer use.


The Grid Connection Manager reports to and will work closely with the Development Director, broader Strategy and Development team and with internal and external stakeholders.

Key accountabilities of this role are to develop and execute project plans, budgets, work plans and schedules and engagement of external service providers.


The role requires specialist knowledge and deep understanding of all aspects of Grid Connection works, establishing grid connection agreements in the National Electricity Market and the grid connection process end to end from enquiry to connection.

The role is also responsible for ensuring grid connection projects comply with all relevant regulations, standards and governance and compliance requirements include HSE.


In this new role you will:

  • Have involvement in the planning and identifying future grid connection options for CleanCo renewable power sources in accordance with the National Electricity Market integration Plan
  • Identify and review emergent connection opportunities in terms of risk and performance by performing detailed analysis of the current and potential future grid.
  • Use specialist grid connection knowledge in negotiation with state based Authorities
  • Be responsible for grid modelling and analysis, reporting on any risks and remedial actions for proposed and implemented development projects
  • Select, manage and take responsibility for key specialist consultants in relation to grid modelling including Generator Performance Standard packages,
  • Make recommendations on connection matters for development project decision making to optimise cost, risk, and performance for the proposed development projects;
  • Work collaboratively across government and energy providers to effectively manage information and confidentiality requirements across stakeholders in accordance with applicable ringfencing parameters
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, procedures and practices

About you:


  • Qualified Engineer with demonstrated progression through engineering roles and project management roles
  • Specialist Grid Connection knowledge and experience including modelling and analysis
  • In depth experience and knowledge of National Electricity Markets and renewable and emergent energy sources
  • Extensive project planning and management capability having balanced multiple competing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and influence with multiple stakeholders on complex matters and large scope and budget initiatives
  • Effective stakeholder management experience with both Government and industry partners
