Our client is the leading transport agency in New South Wales and they are currently seeking a

_Scheduling Manager for an initial 6 month contract based in Sydney or Newcastle._


The role manages the scheduling systems for the managing a complex rail land & asset portfolio program to support reporting, decision making and appropriate allocation of resources (people & financial).

The role also ensures the appropriate prioritisiation of projects based on risk, the timely achievement of key milestones and the successful delivery of projects and programs on time and within budget.


_Key accountabilities_

  • Develop a master program schedule to drive the achievement of program milestones and objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director and Project Manager from workstream that supports regional rail projects to review impacts, test scenarios and develop solutions for scheduling demands.
  • Conduct risk control activities around the master schedule and develop mitigation strategies to manage slippage.
  • Monitor actual progress against an agreed baseline, considering resource requirements and allocation for each project, program and portfolio, and assess against the achievement of key milestones.
  • Provide reports to key stakeholders and contribute to reporting of resource availability and financial forecasts allocation across projects and programs.
  • Provide schedule support and analysis to Network & Assets regional rail team (to include rollingstock, property and assets) and communicate any scheduling issues and appropriate resolutions
  • Work collaboratively with project offices to ensure each project and program schedule has a sufficient level of detail, a critical path and resources are allocated accordingly to ensure the appropriate levels of risk and contingency are allocated, managed and released.
  • Proactively and regularly challenge schedules to ensure they represent best practice, are achievable and offer the best value for money.

_Key knowledge and experience_

  • Proven track record in project schedule development and experience with Advanced Project Scheduling tools i.e Microsoft Office & P
  • Experience working within a matrix management structure where support services are embedded within delivery teams.

_Essential requirements_

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent experience.
