About the role:


This role is to conduct complex and sensitive audits throughout Victoria Police sites to assess compliance with the Victoria Police Safety Management System and statutory compliance requirements, with the safety audit program to be aligned to organisational goals.

As a member of the Safety Services team you will contribute to its collegiate work including shaping and driving the corporate systems, values and behaviours required to develop and mature a safety culture, and to contribute to and monitor the effectiveness of Risk Registers.


You will report directly to the Inspector Safety Systems and Assurance; and collaborate frequently with the Safety Management Systems Manager.

Your duties will include:


  • Conduct audits both on site and remotely to assess compliance with the Victoria Police Safety Management System and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Write comprehensive reports detailing audit/research findings, making appropriate recommendations.
  • Contribute to the development and review of Safety Management System policies, procedures, guidelines forms and tools.
  • Provide high quality safety advice through a coaching model to managers and other internal stakeholders.
  • Train and develop staff in the use and maintenance of the audit program tool.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Management System Lead auditor, ISO 45001 or similar qualifications will be highly regarded.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (or equivalent) in Health and Safety.
  • Welldeveloped emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary, collegiate team environment.
  • Ability to implement contemporary safety thinking; and
  • Ability to shape and drive corporate systems, values and behaviours to develop and mature a safety culture.

Requirements and relevant information:


  • One (1) x fulltime, ongoing position available.
  • This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • This position may be required to work at other locations intrastate when conducting on site safety audits.
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo preemployment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
