Policy Officer Transport and Roads

Full-Time

We welcome applicants with diverse experience and knowledge who have a keen interest in transport and related matters.

In this role you will:

  • Develop policy, advocacy positions, guidelines, procedures, and discussion papers.
  • Collaborate with key external and internal stakeholders for research and analysis.
  • Advocate for Local Government on various WA committees, identify emerging issues, and provide feedback.
  • Engage with State and Federal Government agencies, industry, and stakeholders to address relevant issues and drive opportunities.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to Local Governments.

Individuals with qualifications in planning, economics, environment, engineering, and related fields are encouraged to apply.

What we offer:

This role offers the chance for regional travel, including occasional multi-day work. A 'C' class drivers' licence is required, with a work vehicle provided for travel purposes.

The ideal early career candidate will have:

  • Strong communication skills for effective writing and presentations.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and research.
  • Some experience in project planning, coordination, and evaluation.
  • Understanding of Local, State, and Federal Governments' structures and operations.
  • Experience in event organization and workshop facilitation (preferred).

The ideal Policy Officer candidate will have:

  • Understanding of Local, State, and Federal Governments' structures and operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of Local Government responsibilities and decision-making processes in transport matters.
  • Excellent communication skills for clear and confident writing and presentations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in policy development.
  • Experience in project planning, coordination, evaluation, event organization, and workshop facilitation.
