Work in the leafy suburb of Travancore

  • Norfolk Terrace Community Care Unit is a 20 bed facility providing medium to long term residential rehabilitation 24 hours a day by supporting the recovery of people experiencing long term serious mental illness and disability. The consumers require high levels of clinical support and intensive rehabilitation to manage their mental health and wellbeing. Best practice care is provided by furthering personal growth, hope and resilience to develop or relearn skills in selfcare, communication and social skills.

Your new role:


  • Work in a multidisciplinary team working with our consumers on their recovery journey
  • Enjoy a collaborative and supportive working environment within a healthy workplace culture
  • You will help us achieve the holistic support of consumers who require a high level of clinical support and intensive rehabilitation in order to manage their mental health and wellbeing
  • In return, you will be supported to experience a therapeutic relationship with our long term consumers, develop professionally and contribute to a valuable and rewarding area of mental health service delivery

About you:


  • You are an influential leader with a track record of driving change across a complex health care environment
  • Extensive experience (minimum 5 years) working as a mental health nurse within a multidisciplinary care team in various settings
  • Demonstrated experience working in clinical leadership roles
  • Demonstrated understanding of the physical health co morbidities associated with serious mental illness

Selection Criteria- Desirable: Registration as a Registered Nurse under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, AND Bachelor Degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent, OR, Bachelor Degree in Nursing plus Postgraduate Qualification in

  • Desirable: Extensive experience (minimum 5 years) working as a mental health nurse within a multidisciplinary care team in various settings.
  • Desirable: Demonstrated experience working in clinical leadership roles
  • Desirable: Demonstrated experience in the provision of high quality, personcentred evidencebased nursing care in the context of contemporary mental health care.
  • Desirable: Demonstrated experience in delivering, and in the participation of, nursing clinical supervision and reflective practice.
  • Desirable: Understanding of Legislation pertinent to the provision of mental health services and in particular the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 and of policies and strategic directions of Public Mental Health Services
