About the opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Regulatory Policy Advisor who will contribute by:

  • Support the Manager, Regulatory Policy to drive a supportive team culture and contribute to the overall performance and development of the team by building knowledge and capability.
  • Lead and assist on the timely creation of highquality internal regulatory policies and guides.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design and deliver tailored policy material to enhance the regulatory capabilities of Energy Safe staff.
  • Work collaboratively across Energy Safe teams to craft compliance codes and guidelines in plain English.
  • Conduct environmental scanning, research and analysis to inform the prioritisation of our work program.
  • Undertake policy projects, collaborating internally and externally to provide wellresearched solutions and recommendations.
  • Prepare and work to project plans to ensure delivery of key priorities within agreed timeframes and scope.
  • Present expert advice on complex policy matters, translating concepts into plain English for diverse audiences.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal Energy Safe stakeholders and relevant external partners.

To be successful, you'll have:


  • Handson regulatory and policy experience, preferably gained in a regulatory setting with a focus on safety, energy, economics, or consumer affairs.
  • Familiarity with Victorian and national energy markets with an emphasis on energy safety frameworks, or a demonstrated ability to quickly develop this understanding.
  • Experience working with compliance and enforcement frameworks, showcasing a grasp of governance controls for the valid exercise of statutory powers.
  • Ability to assess legal thresholds for compliance and enforcement actions.
  • Experience in developing project plans, briefs, reports and recommendations on complex policy issues.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders to inform work, identify innovative solutions to resolve issues, and obtain necessary support.
