Description

The Estate and Space Planner is responsible for Estate and Space planning projects and supporting strategic space planning, campus development, space standards and Space Systems and Data across three Swinburne campuses.

This includes the management of Archibus and Space Central and improvement of space data and systems to support the strategic planning of the university's assets and campus development.

The Estate and Space Planner leads stakeholder engagement, develops briefs and planning for key university projects and is responsible for associated executive communication packs addressing feasibility planning for academic and professional staff accommodation, Learning and Teaching spaces and specialist research labs.


The Estate and Space Planner is responsible for driving improved utilisation and allocation of space to ensure assets are working hard.

The role is required to work across the organisation with users including academic units, Project Delivery, Facility Management and Campus and Asset Services to ensure projects and briefed appropriately and projects governance and decisions and coordinated and communicated.

The Estate and Space Planner is responsible for providing quality advice and support focused on best practice systems and space metrics and improving systems and documentation including evidence based estate planning analysis for clear decision making.


The Estate and Space Planner reports to the Associate Director of Estate and Space Planning and acts under broad direction within the University's policy framework in their day to day roles and responsibilities.


About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated experience and proven track record in one or more areas relating to architecture, project documentation, property, space management, project management or other.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Excel including vlookup and other analytical methods, Cadcorp Spatial Information System (preferred), Archibus (preferred) to develop timely and considered quality space management and asset solutions.
  • Strong problemsolving skills with an ability to think flexibly, creatively and quickly under pressure having regard for knowledge of and compliance with frameworks such as Building and Design Codes/Standards as well as the university's strategic priorities and frameworks.
  • Exceptional communication, engagement and effective interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work efficiently and independently under broad direction as well as part of a team, both internally and across university teams.

Qualifications

  • Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications in Architecture, Urban Planning and Design or like discipline and workplace experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training,
