About the Company:

Western Australian Treasury Corporation (WATC) is the State's central financial services provider.

They offer a comprehensive range of corporate finance, debt and investment, financial markets, risk management, and foreign exchange products and advisory services to WA's public sector agencies.

They care about the financial health of WA's agencies, and their work has enabled the financing of significant projects such as Optus Stadium, Shire of Broome Town Beach Redevelopment, and new helicopters for WA Police.

The Financial Markets team undertakes debt funding activities in domestic and global capital markets, asset and liability management, management of WATC's liquidity portfolio, investment management on behalf of clients, foreign exchange transactions and economic and financial market analysis.

The team currently manages a debt portfolio of approximately $50 billion.

About the Opportunity:

This role offers a rare opportunity to join the Financial Markets team

Key responsibilities include:

Development and implementation of investment strategies for clients' funds under management;
Preparation of client investment portfolio performance reports;
Management of WATC's offshore borrowing facilities;
Monitoring market conditions and undertaking foreign exchange and derivative deals to hedge foreign currency denominated issuance under the WATC offshore facilities;
Thought leadership to inform WATC's strategic priorities;
Leading and contributing to strategic initiatives AND
Mentoring dealers in the Financial Markets Team.

About you:

Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance, commerce or similar discipline;
5+ years' experience within a senior role in a financial markets front office or funds management environment;
Strong current financial market knowledge both domestically and internationally, with an indepth understanding of foreign exchange and fixed income instruments;
Demonstrated high level communication skills;
Ability to build and maintain excellent rapport with market participants and key stakeholders;
Exposure to and understanding of ESG;
Proficiency in Microsoft Products, 360T, Refintiv and Bloomberg systems AND
Demonstrated experience in driving operational efficiencies and managing projects.
