We care for the people of NSW, building confidence and trust so our communities can thrive. We make the complex simple, so our schemes deliver better outcomes for people and communities.

Whether a person is severely injured in the workplace or on our roads, icare supports their long-term care needs to improve quality of life, including helping people return to work.

We insure over 329,000 NSW businesses and 202 NSW Government agencies.

We protect around 90 per cent of public and private sector workers in NSW - that's approximately 3.2 million people.

icare is a trusted risk advisor to the NSW Government, protecting over $266.6 billion of the state's most iconic assets, including the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

The opportunity:

Working within our Lifetime Schemes, Workers Care team you will work with a diverse mix of supportive, fun and passionate people who really care about making a difference for people and the NSW community.

You will have the mind for getting things done and ensure the smooth service delivery to a severely injured Worker to improve their quality of life and you will set the bar high through the quality of the work you do and the people-oriented decisions you make.

We're looking for someone with knowledge, practical experience and skills, to support Workers and their families.

With a disability or allied health background, you will manage a caseload of Workers with complex injury related needs as they transition back into their community following serious injury, including brain and spinal injuries.

It's an exciting time at icare, where no two days are the same; as a
Rehabilitation Coordinator in the
Workers
Care team you will:

  • Use a person-centred approach to assist in identifying and reviewing the needs of Workers across all phases of recovery and community participation.
  • Facilitate supports to enhance each Worker's capacity to achieve their desired goals, as identified in their My Plan.
  • Work collaboratively with internal specialist services, external case managers and service providers, health professionals and other key stakeholders to coordinate the most effective options to meet the treatment, care and support needs of the Worker.
  • Manage service approvals and payments in accordance with agreed needs, assessments and plans.
  • Adhere to the KPI's that monitor and measure key areas of the role.
  • Keep abreast of and understand the NSW Workers Compensation legislation and Guidelines and how these contribute and impact the decisionmaking framework.
  • Work collaboratively with all teams across Care, in the design and implementation of internal quality assurance, management of disputes and complaints and continuous improvement systems to drive quality and consistency in decision making

Your story so far:

  • An allied health background (or a relevant degree in a healthrelated discipline or rehabilitation advisor), you are equipped with transferable skills to coordinate rehabilitation services to people with disabilities similar to those supported by our schemes.
  • Experience working with people with traumatic brain injury and/or spinal cord injury would be required
  • A sound understanding of, or experience, with the NSW Workers Compensation Legislation.
  • Proven experience navigating case management software systems.
  • Practical experience in managing a caseload of Workers, determining treatment planning needs and coordinating the relevant services and support that the scheme funds.
  • You'll use your critical reasoning skills to ensure a high degree of integrity in the decisionmaking process, have excellent communication skills to build rapport and truly connect with people to build trust and familiarity with Workers, their families and their rehabilitation team.
  • Excellent communication skills give you the ability to build rapport, communicate complex information, create, and nurture effective working relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Previous injury / rehabilitation case management experience working with people who are severely injured is highly advantageous.
  • A full driver's license and ability to travel regularly across Southern NSW and occasionally interstate.
