About the role
Mater Hospital Brisbane is seeking a talented and enthusiastic
Principal House Officer to join our Orthopaedics team. The role is available on a
full-time basis for 12 months, starting 5 February 2024.


Mater comprises of a unique collocation of two public and four private hospitals, and our organisation provides care for over 500,000 patients each year.

Located in beautiful, sunny Brisbane in South East Queensland, the city boasts a wide range of cultural attractions.

Mater is a teaching hospital of the University of Queensland and clinicians are eligible for academic appointment to the university.


Salary range:
Commensurate with experience

plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900

What you'll be doing


This role will see you provide surgical care to patients within Mater Hospital Brisbane Orthopaedics Department as well as supervising interns, JHOs and SHOs.


You will participate in scheduled teaching sessions on an informal and formal basis and undertake continuing post graduate medical education and training to acquire further experience or enter a specific training program.


About you
To be considered for the position applicants should have:

  • Registration as a medical practitioner without conditions with AHPRA
  • At least 3 years postgraduate experience
  • Experience within an orthopaedics department in an acute hospital setting.


The successful applicant should be competent at history taking, physical examination, ordering appropriate investigations and implementing appropriate management plans, with Consultant supervision.
