ABOUT THE ROLE


In partnership with the City of Sydney, ArtsReady currently has an exciting position available for someone wanting to pursue a career in the Arts & Creative industry.


  • As the successful applicant, you will:
  • Be employed by AFL SportsReady, as part of our ArtsReady program.
  • Work onsite with City of Sydney Libraries
  • Study for an accredited qualification: Certificate III in Business or Library and Information Services


The primary purpose of this position is to provide effective support to the City of Sydney Library team to contribute to the successful delivery of various events and programs.

The position is a full-time (38hrs/wk), 12 month traineeship role, commencing in March 2024.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide a welcoming experience to the Library by providing professional and positive assistance to all customers and by maintaining a neat and tidy Library and workspace
  • At the help desk, provide a range of circulation duties via the Library Management System, registering new members and assisting with customer enquiries
  • Facilitate customer selfservice through selfcheck kiosks, the Library's online catalogue, and customer online accounts for renewal and reservations
  • Reshelve returned library materials and undertake regular block shelf checking and shelf tidying
  • Promote lifelong learning and literacy through library material recommendations, Library membership, and participation in Library programs events and activities
  • Assist Library staff to connect customers with information and resources from the Library's physical and digital collections, assisting with collection maintenance
  • Assist with preparation of displays of new books, library promotions/special interests and with the maintenance of notices and community information display boards.
  • Accept responsibility and authority for all related tasks as set out Library Guidelines, policies, Quality Standards and associated documentation
  • Comply with and keep abreast of any relevant legislation applicable to the performance of the duties of this position.
  • Such duties as directed by the Team Leader

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Permanent right to work in Australia
  • Have a satisfactory pass in the Higher School Certificate or equivalent
  • Genuine interest to work in the library and information sector
  • Customer service oriented
  • Working with Children Check or ability to obtain prior to commencement
  • Desirable to hold Drivers License and Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate

SALARY
$26, $40,000.00 plus 11% Superannuation

  • National Training Wage Award
  • Fully Funded Qualification
