The Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS) was established in 1973 to address the specific medical needs of
Victorian Aboriginal communities. 2023 marks as a landmark year as VAHS proudly celebrate it's 50-year of
providing a comprehensive range of medical, dental, and social services for our community.

As well as providing a variety of medical services, VAHS is committed to supporting the well-being of the
community through contributions to community events and activities. VAHS is also committed to assisting
research into the ongoing needs of the community.

About the Opportunity
The role of
ITC Spiritual and Emotional Wellbeing/Outreach Worker is to develop and coordinate a series of
activities to empower clients of the ITC program who have a chronic disease, to self-manage their health and
improve their health outcomes, focusing on spiritual and emotional wellbeing.

**Key Selection Criteria
**To be considered for this role you must have the following.

Essential

  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to working with Aboriginal Communities in a culturally
sensitive way.

  • Welldeveloped interpersonal skills and an ability to form effective professional relationships with
clients and staff.

  • Strong leadership and group facilitation skills
  • Welldeveloped written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to be a selfstarter and to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Proficient IT skills.
  • Current driver's license.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated understanding and commitment to the principles of equity, diversity
and occupational health and safety.

  • Fully approved Covid 19 Vaccinations (including booster)

Desirable

  • Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal Health, the social determinants of health and the impact of
chronic disease on the Aboriginal community.


Qualifications & Experience


  • Desirable

  • Tertiary qualifications in health sciences or equivalent experience.


  • Desirable

  • Project Management/ group facilitation qualification/certification.
