Victorian Aboriginal communities. 2023 marks as a landmark year as VAHS proudly celebrate it's 50-year of
providing a comprehensive range of medical, dental, and social services for our community.

As well as providing a variety of medical services, VAHS is committed to supporting the well-being of the
community through contributions to community events and activities. VAHS is also committed to assisting
research into the ongoing needs of the community.

About the Opportunity
The role of the
Therapeutic Practitioner is to develop and provide comprehensive -therapeutic intervention
services to individuals and families who are affected by a range of presenting issues post family violence.

**Key Selection Criteria
**To be considered for this role you must have the following.

  • An understanding of and commitment to the Aboriginal community.
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or other relevant Human Services Qualifications and/or
relevant experience in counselling.

  • Accredited credentials which may include registration or fulfill requirements for registration with an
appropriate national board or agency.

  • Ability to utilize individual face to face therapeutic skills with children and/or families.
  • Experience in planning and facilitating evidence based/informed therapeutic individual and groups
programs.

  • A demonstrated experience and skills in mental health and wellbeing issues including substance misuse
  • Capacity to analyse complex issues, including the impact of violence and trauma, safety and risk, provide
therapeutic interventions for women and children and assist them to achieve goas. Excellent written and
verbal communication skills and listening skills

  • Good computer skills and an understanding of data collection
  • The demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi skilled team.
  • Fully approved Covid 19 Vaccinations (including booster)
