Be a catalyst for change and join our supportive team at the Department of Energy, Environment, and Climate Action as the Community Engagement Lead for First Peoples Energy Affordability Support.

In this vital role, you will directly impact the lives of First Peoples households by ensuring they have access to energy affordability programs and services that promote long-term affordability outcomes for First Peoples energy consumers.

As the Community Engagement Lead, you will forge strong relationships with Traditional Owner groups and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs), empowering them to support their communities in reducing energy costs and accessing essential entitlements in the energy market.

Your expertise will be instrumental in providing one-on-one assistance and delivering comprehensive training to help First Peoples households maximize the affordability of their energy bills.

Collaboration is at the heart of this role and your excellent communication and stakeholder management skills will be key to your success and help the department to fulfill its commitments to Pupangarli Marnmarnepu, DECCA's Aboriginal Self-Determination Reform Strategy
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Victorian Aboriginal cultures and societies and demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with Aboriginal people to advance their interests.
  • An appropriate tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in the energy sector, program management and/or implementation is highly desirable.
  • An understanding of government, departmental and ministerial functions and processes is desirable.
This is a fixed term position available until 31 March 2024. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
