APS - Senior Library Officer, Reading Room Staffing:

The National Library of Australia is seeking to fill the integral role of
Senior Library Officer, Reading Room Staffing (APS4) on an ongoing basis.

Join our team as a dedicated Senior Library Officer specialising in Reading Room Staffing.

In this role, you will contribute to creating rosters for efficient service delivery across Reading Rooms, the Ask a Librarian phone service, and the Foyer Information Desk and switchboard to fulfill service commitments.


As a valued team member, you'll play a key role in meticulous roster preparation, contribute to the enhancement of roster procedures and documentation, and deliver essential staff training.

Your responsibilities also include supporting a monthly newsletter for out-of-hours staff, engaging in reporting, and actively participating in service evaluations.


You will cultivate internal and external relationships, contribute innovative ideas, and actively participate in implementing service improvement initiatives and workplace changes.


In this client service-focused position, you will extend your assistance to the Library's reference services in the Reading Rooms, as well as through online and phone reference channels.

Your involvement will extend to providing support for the development of Learning Programs and web content, including Research Guides.

Success in this role requires qualifications or equivalent experience in Information Management, Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, or related fields.


This role includes regular evening and weekend work undertaken during the Library's advertised reading room opening hours.
An 18-month merit pool may be established from this recruitment activity which may be used to fill similar vacancies.
