EL - Assistant Director, Philanthropy:

  • New twelve-month role in National Library's philanthropy team
  • Opportunity to increase support for a national cultural institution
  • Focus on major gift and bequest fundraising

The Library is seeking to fill a non-ongoing
Assistant Director (Executive Level 1) role in the Philanthropy Section of the Office of the Director-General.

Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, and working within the Office of the Director-General, this is a new position within the Library's philanthropy team, for a twelve-month contract.

Focused on major gift and bequest fundraising, this role will work with an assigned portfolio of existing and prospective donors, working to deepen the engagement of these individuals with the National Library, prior to soliciting meaningful philanthropic contributions at an appropriate time.

For this twelve-month role, we are seeking an experienced fundraising professional specialising in major gifts or bequests. Experience in arts and culture or higher education fundraising is desirable.

We are seeking applicants who can professionally represent a national cultural institution, build relationships of trust within both the Library community and the Australian philanthropic community, and formulate compelling proposals for philanthropic support.

The successful applicant for this new position will have a leadership role within the team, joining the existing Director and Assistant Director in working directly with potential major gift and bequest donors.

They will work in collaboration with experienced colleagues with responsibility for campaign management, research and information, and administrative support, and with a range of stakeholders across the Library.
