Alfred Health Allied Health Services comprises a number of allied health disciplines that provide patient-centred care across all clinical programs that operate at Alfred Health.
To ensure that the allied health workforce is fit for purpose, there is a robust governance structure that provides oversight of staff & student education, research, workforce innovation and quality & safety.
The Allied Health Professional Practice Framework (PPF) underpins the work of Allied Health at Alfred Health in contributing to Alfred Health's purpose.
The Position Summary
The Workforce Unit Manager is a critical Allied Health leadership position working with the Chief Allied Health Officer and Deputy Directors of Allied Health to operationalise our six Professional Practice Pillars; Research, Education, Workforce Innovation, Digital Health, credentialing and Scope of Practice and Quality & Safety.
The Workforce Unit supports the Allied Health workforce reporting professionally to the Allied Health Directorate across all Alfred Health sites and community services to ensure high quality and effective clinical intervention to deliver the best patient care.
Key Responsibilities (please see the Position Description for more information)
- Design and implement a strategic, quality and business plan for Allied Health that incorporates the six pillars of professional practice and aligns with the strategic priorities of Alfred Health
- Build Allied Health workforce capability and capacity that meets the operational demands of the clinical programs
- Promote consistency in workforce procedures and policies across allied health and reduce duplication and inefficiencies
- Strengthen existing partnerships between internal and external partnerships, and explore opportunities to develop new partnerships that enable the allied health workforce and service delivery to grow and evolve
- Provide leadership in the areas of the six pillars of professional practice and develop capabilities of future leaders to ensure the sustainability of this workforce
Skills and Qualifications Required
- Relevant degree in an Allied Health discipline
- Postgraduate qualifications at Masters level or higher in a clinical area or health services management/administration/ business management or relevant field
- Current nonlimited AHPRA registration if applicable for professional group
- Eligible for membership with the appropriate professional association
- Demonstrated experience in management and leadership across multiple Allied Health disciplines
- Significant experience in an interdisciplinary model of Allied Health in a hospital or health service delivery capacity
- Experience in innovation, service development and implementation
- Ability to integrate knowledge of wider issues affecting the role/unit, such as Government policies, into practice
