The Team


Sydney Trains' Fleet Maintenance Division's Planning & Resource team are responsible for the planning of maintenance for the diesel and electric passenger fleets for Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink.

The planning encompasses budgeting, forecasting, and scheduling of maintenance, with key operational considerations covering supply chain, labour, service requirements and maintenance facility constraints.


The Opportunity


Reporting to the Maintenance Planning Manager, we currently have an exciting opportunity available for a Lean Coordinator to join Sydney Trains on a 12-month fixed term contract.

The objective of this role is to develop and integrate governance across the maintenance planning function. This in turn will drive stability, predictability and feasibility into the planning and delivery of maintenance.

Key duties will include

  • Scoping, developing, and implementing governance and/or gate phase methodology for maintenance planning and delivery.
  • Develop, reengineer and document processes underpinning current and future state governance.
  • Working with key stakeholders across engineering, projects, obsolescence, asset management, supply chain, finance, and maintenance centres to gather requirements.
  • Lead projects across the Division to achieve business objectives.

About You

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong process experience
  • Must be comfortable working with senior stakeholders and ambiguity
  • Experience in developing or coordinating governance/gate methodology
  • A familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies or Project Management experience would be an advantage
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
