About the role
This is a newly created Clinical Educator position with Calvary North Adelaide.
This position has been created to meet the specialist skill set required to care for the unique cohort of paediatric patients.
Based at Calvary's flagship hospital, Calvary North Adelaide, this position has the capability to enhance and further develop staff in the management of surgical paediatric patients.
The Clinical Educator will lead and further develop the skills for paediatric nursing in a number of different clinical settings including peri-operative and ward care.
In collaboration with the Learning and Development Manager and Consultants CHCSA, and the Clinical Managers at Calvary North Adelaide this position will actively provide necessary learning opportunities for staff on pre and postoperative management of paediatric patients, using a variety of teaching strategies.
This role will also work collaboratively with the wider L&D team, to advise on paediatric specific content as it pertains to mandatory training and orientation and may be expected to assist with the delivery of these components.
Key ResponsibilitiesDelivery of Paediatric specialist education to support;
Peri-Operative Areas including;
Day Surgery
Anaesthetics
Recovery
Wards
Any other departments that may require specialist skills and knowledge on paediatric care.
Planning and implementation of education programs to develop staff and build nursing capability
Simulation training including paediatric emergencies
Mandatory training and competency assessments for core skills in keeping with Calvary, NSQHS, ACORN, and the RACP standards for the care of children and adolescents in health services.
AHPRA Registered Nurse or Midwife
Minimum 3 years post graduate clinical experience in Paediatrics or Perioperative experience is highly desirable.
Post Graduate Qualification in Paediatric Nursing (Highly desirable)
Evidence of leadership skills, with a positive attitude
Ability to deliver creative, innovative & flexible education within a dynamic and changing environment
Demonstrated high levels of communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission based organisation
Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or university education qualification or working towards
PALS and or Neonatal Life Support Instructor is highly desirable
