This role is in the Sydney Natural Resources team, which is part of CBA's global Natural Resources Energy & Carbon ("NREC") ecosystem within Global Institutional Banking Coverage.

NREC provides relationship management, capital solutions, risk management and transaction banking services to large corporate clients. Our clients represent a diverse group across the Natural Resources sector and include ASX listed, private and multi-national companies. We provide corporate, acquisition and project financing and risk management to our clients.


Your impact and contribution


As an Associate you will join a high performing team and support Senior Bankers across all aspects of client management and deal related activity.

You will also play a key role in the maintenance of client data and overall portfolio hygiene.


Do work that matters:


You will contribute to achieving the Natural Resources team's core purpose, to act as a trusted advisor to our clients through the demonstration of deep industry expertise as well as innovative deal structuring to deliver optimal financial outcomes.


  • Liaising with support and operational risk teams, demonstrating curiosity and an ability to review and challenge. Participate as the representative for the Natural Resources team in optimisation projects to streamline policy and processes as they arise.
  • Preparing credit papers for new transactions, annual and adhoc credit reviews, including preparation, review of detailed ESG assessments.
  • Accurate recording of data, facility establishment and responsibility for inlife maintenance processes.
  • Performing portfolio monitoring activities such as KYC and onboarding, breach management and other reporting and liaise with credit risk where required.
  • Liaising with product partners, credit risk and other stakeholders as required.
  • Providing support to Bankers in servicing the needs of our clients including for complex transactions, operational requirements and daytoday enquiries across the client lifecycle.
  • Analysing evolving sector trends and regulatory developments in order to accurately assess risks.

We're interested in hearing from people who have:

  • A genuine interest in the mining sector and the role minerals will play in the energy transition.
  • Tertiary qualifications in finance or business related discipline.
  • A positive attitude, strong communication skills and high attention to detail.
  • Prior experience in institutional or business banking, including understanding of operational and credit risk, will be highly regarded.
