Retail Banking Services (RBS) is the public face of CommBank, delivering a seamless banking experience for the future, to our 10 million + personal and small business customers.

We offer market-leading products and services, supported by some of the world's best systems and processes.

The Everyday Accounts and Payments team manages the core transaction account, retail FX and payments products.

This portfolio is at the heart of the Retail Bank's franchise - an anchor product for customers who consider CBA to be their main financial institution.

The Everyday Accounts and Payments team has end-to-end accountability for portfolio management, proactive risk management, and optimising customer/business outcomes across the portfolio.

As a Product Manager within the Retail Payments team, your role is key in supporting both the operational management and optimisation of the Retail Payments portfolio.


This is an exciting opportunity in which you will use your critical thinking, high levels of initiative, passion and people skills to effectively execute the day-to-day management of the Retail Payments portfolio, which includes implementing initiatives, portfolio optimisation, distribution support, and management of risk and compliance obligations.


You will utilise your savvy for analytical and creative thinking to play a key role in the design of Retail Payments to enhance customer appeal, profitability, productivity, and ongoing customer engagement.

More specifically, you will:


  • Lead and execute initiatives to enhance, simplify or mitigate risk across the retail payments product portfolio
  • Partner with and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to proactively identify and manage operational initiatives and other compliance obligations.
  • Manage various other product BAU activities such as review product policy and procedures, deliver regular product reporting and insights, and recommend enhancements that will improve customer service, profitability, market share, and cost reduction
  • Work closely with Everyday Banking's technology delivery team to execute change, which delivers enhanced customer experiences
  • Monitor consumer, competitor, environment, and industry trends to identify customer value proposition improvements and deliver initiatives that meet our customers' current and future everyday banking needs

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Risk Mindset -All CommBank employees are expected to proactively identify and understand, openly discuss and act on current and future risks.
  • Prior experience in banking services, payments, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in Product Management, is highly regarded
  • Experience in delivering initiatives, projects or change management
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with analytics experience highly regarded however not necessary in the role (e.g. SQL)
  • Strong communication and influencing skills and proven stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proven track record of driving results
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Tertiary qualification in a Business / Commerce / Technology degree highly regarded.
