Reporting to our Head of People & Culture for our Food pillar (IGA, Campbells Wholesale), your role will work closely with the P&C team and Food Leadership team in the delivery of our overall People Plan, creating a dynamic culture where our team can thrive and help deliver on our purpose to Champion Successful Independents.


Your key focus areas will be across our supply chain and logistics teams, partnering leaders to implement changes, embedding leadership capabilities, and deliver our core people processes.

In addition, you will also play a key part in change projects across Metcash to develop our talent and engagement in these teams.


What you'll do
Strategic People Plans

  • Deliver the Metcash Group and Food Pillar People Strategy and Plan, tailoring where necessary to meet the specific needs of your designated teams.
  • Working collaboratively with the People & Culture Centres of Excellence (CoEs) to leverage expert capability in the design of initiatives, and at other times leveraging and deploying them
Organisation Effectiveness

  • Work as a strategic business adviser to key stakeholders in your portfolio, to facilitate the delivery of business outcomes through Metcash's people levers and processes to create a Favourite Place to Work
  • Act as the people lead in major business changes, partnering key stakeholders to build capability and effective peoplerelated change management practices
  • Identify key people priorities and deliver initiatives that improve performance, leadership, culture, and engagement, ensuring outcomes are measured to demonstrate the value added to the business
Talent and Workforce Planning

  • Work with senior leaders to identify critical roles / key talent and ensure plans are in place to retain them and develop successors
  • Through clear workforce plans, partner with our Talent Acquisition team to ensure effective talent acquisition and proactive sourcing to predict and meet future business needs,
Leadership Development and Coaching

  • Identify key development opportunities and work with the CoE to implement them
  • Deliver Group P&C initiatives including LSI coaching
Operational Requirements

  • Effectively deliver the annual cycle of people processes (e.g., objective setting, talent reviews, culture and engagement surveys / action planning ,performance evaluation, remuneration reviews)
  • Work closely with P&C Advice Centre to understand major trends, working proactively to address underlying issues and focusing on continuous improvement
  • Effectively leverage P&C CoEs, and shared services to meet the specific needs of the pillar or function
  • Act as a point of escalation with significant matters (e.g. employment relations)

What you'll bring

  • Solid experience in a People & Culture (P&C) / HR generalist role
  • Ability to influence and build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders of varied levels of seniority
  • Sound problem solving skills and ability to propose and implement mutually beneficial solutions
  • Solid facilitation and coaching skills, with an ability to work effectively at all levels
  • Constructive and collaborative style
  • Passion and energy for the P&C /HR function, people agenda and making a difference in a fastpaced, complex business
  • Experience in working with supply chain, logistics and distribution teams is preferrable
  • LSI accreditation would be advantageous.
