    Description

    The ABC's Content Division is looking for a media professional to provide advice, support and guidance on Indigenous issues, protocols and opportunities. The role will include:

    Cultural Guidance

  • Sharing and transferring Indigenous cultural knowledge to colleagues and clients.
  • Providing content makers with advice and guidance on the steps to take to ensure culturally sensitive stories are managed appropriately.
  • Identifying when community consultation about culturally sensitive content is needed and lead that consultation.

    • Internal Stakeholder Management

  • Working closely with the News Division Senior Cultural Adviser and with the ABC's Head of Indigenous.
  • Working closely with Content division diversity leads and Legal in the delivery of the ABC Indigenous Cultural Intellectual Property (ICIP) framework.

    • Development, Coaching and Mentoring

  • Providing training development to content teams to build awareness and confidence in applying the ICIP framework.

    • About You

    You have experience leading cultural initiatives policy or plans and bring high-level leadership and influencing skills. Your skills, experience and personal qualities will include:

  • An ability to authentically establish rapport, credibility, and collaborative relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • An ability to develop respect and trust with content makers, internal stakeholders and Indigenous communities.
  • Experience building an inclusive and supportive culture where diversity is valued.
  • Proven ability to plan and effectively manage projects and stakeholders.
  • Previous experience in the screen industry or the media is preferred.
