About the Organisation
Our client is an independent statutory authority established by the Australian Federal Government.

Their role is to maintain an impartial and independent electoral system for eligible voters through active electoral roll management, efficient delivery of polling services, and targeted education and public awareness programs.


About the Role

You will join a collaborative and driven team of communications professionals working to deliver national and targeted communication campaigns and activities to support awareness and participation in electoral events and the broader electoral system among all Australians.

We are looking for a skilled communication professional to fill a role in our external communication team. The role is responsible for undertaking complex and/or sensitive work under broad direction. At referendum and election time, you will deliver critical activities in a high-pressured environment, working with an expanded team.

_External Communications Officer_

It's an exciting opportunity for a creative communication professional to use and enhance their skills working with a talented small team on some of the largest and most impactful campaigns around.

With an audience of over 17 million people, you will be directly involved in facilitating their right and responsibility to vote in the upcoming referendum and future federal elections.


In this role, you will be involved in a range of work from providing external communication activities, developing and delivering information and advertising campaigns, including to diverse and specialist audiences, to help people enrol and vote correctly.


To excel you will have demonstrated ability to:

  • be a

  • able to develop, manage and evaluate communication activities (including information and advertising campaigns)

excellent writer - who can tailor messages and information products for a variety of audiences and channels
- be
highly organised - with strong project management skills, delivering results while running multiple projects with competing deadlines

manage external suppliers - procuring and effectively managing contracted services, particularly for campaigns
- enjoy
collaboration - by building and managing relationships with business areas and external suppliers providing sound advice and support
- show
drive, initiative, and good judgement - working autonomously as well as part of a team, and taking pride in and ownership of their work

positive and
calm under pressure - with a willingness to step up to additional communication demands for federal elections and other electoral events.
