About the Role
Reporting to the State SHEQ Manager this position supports, monitors and manages hazard identification and incident management.


Your key accountabilities relate to:

Risk Management - conduct and review plant risk assessments ensuring they are relevant and available on site including verifying works being conducted are as per the SWMS, and chemicals being used on site have been risk assessed and their SDS's are available

Planning - monitor the use and implementation of start cards on site and ensure all staff are trained in this process. Conduct / participate in pre-start meetings

Emergency Response Management
  • Develop emergency contact lists, reviewing response plans for approval, and facilitate any associated training

Implementation & Operations - monitor adherence to Ventia and Client site requirements including permits, ensuring all asbestos works are identified and carried out correctly according to requirements and legislation, ensuring underground services have been identified and associated permits completed, ensuring all sites are equipped with emergency equipment and suitably trained personnel, project compliance and adherence to documentation used on site

Communication & Consultation - inductions, toolboxes, safety alerts, share lessons learnt and prepare SWMS

Incident Management - facilitate the completion of initial incident reports, record, investigate and manage incidents (ICAM) within required timeframes and escalate where necessary

Training - verify training and competency on site across all staff (including licences and VOCs)

Audit & Inspection - complete audits and inspections and ensure non-compliances identified (through Ventia, Client, third party) are rectified within required timeframes, and mentor operational staff during HSE site inspections and audits

Workers Compensation & Injury Management:

  • report all workplace related injuries to relevant IM advisor and provide relevant support in managing the injury

About You

  • Ideally you will possess knowledge of the telecommunications industry, and a minimum of 2 years' experience in SHEQ roles
  • Minimum Cert IV in HSEQ
  • ICAM and Lead Auditor qualifications
  • Construction Induction Card
  • Valid clean drivers' licence
  • Remove non friable asbestos and supervise asbestos removal tickets
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong contractor management
  • Demonstrated track record of effective business partnership
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, be well organised and focused on productivity
  • Sound communication skills both written and verbal
