About the role:

An exciting opportunity is available to join the Neuroinflammation Laboratory as a Research Assistant.

Under the supervision of the Laboratory Head, you will be responsible for performing experiments and other duties as required that contribute to this stimulating research.


  • Conducting research under limited supervision and provide laboratorybased support for experiments and related work
  • Ensuring required laboratory consumables are ordered in a timely fashion and common laboratory reagents required for the conduct of planned experiments are maintained.
  • Supervising and assisting with research training of postgraduate students

This position is a fixed term, full-time role.

The role attracts an annual salary offer ranging from Research Assistant 2 (RA2) $73,709 to Research Assistant 3 (RA3) $77,695, commensurate with experience.

About you:


  • Bachelor Science with Honours
  • Strong organisation skills including the ability to work consistently and effectively
  • Excellent record keeping and data management skills
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to function well in a team environment
  • Demonstrated laboratory research experience
  • Experience in handling mouse models and tissue analyses
  • Experience in CRISPR technology, cloning, qPCR, Western blotting and image analysis
