About the Opportunity

The Community Lead will foster growth, engagement, and vibrancy within the community, while managing the co-working space, ensuring smooth operation, and driving high utilisation.

The role is responsible for managing internal and external stakeholders, as well as bring their own networks to Startspace.
The Community Lead is responsible for the following measurable outcomes:
Growth, retention, and diversity

  • Growth and retention of StartSpace members and alumni, with a focus on diversity and inclusion.
  • Actively build relationships with communities to develop collaborations and crosspromotions.
  • Develop a positive, inclusive, and engaging community culture, using internal communications strategies and relationship management techniques.
Engage and activate community

  • Actively seek to engage and promote conversations, collaborations and cocreations among community members, through both online channels and in a coworking space. Draw ideas and talents from the community to support StartSpace growth.
  • Increase floor utilisation and efficiency within the coworking space.
  • Initiate and organise regular community events to drive engagement and interactions. Monitor and actively participate in online discussions.
Fostering team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with other team members to create events that are highly relevant and beneficial to the community members. Actively seek community feedback to further shape and improve existing events and programs.
  • Contribute to increasing StartSpace's brand awareness among visitors, the startup ecosystem locally and nationally, stakeholders, and various communities.
  • Delivering projects and materials on time to agreed scope in conjunction with internal stakeholders, project teams and external providers.
About You


In addition, you will come to us with:

  • Previous experience in community management, preferably in a startup or co-working space environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with and building relationships with communities, preferably in an environment with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated practical experience in creation of events to serve the community, preferably with collaboration and input from the community.
  • A proven track record of project delivery in conjunction with a range of stakeholders.
  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent work experience from a range of relevant fields including community engagement, membership services, marketing, or business development is required.
  • State Library Victoria is a childsafe organisation. A valid Working with Children Check will be required before commencing.
