  • Ongoing full-time opportunity, located in Parramatta (on-site)

Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $101,947 to $112,849 plus super and leave loading
The Aboriginal Housing Office (AHO) is part of the Department of Planning and Environment (DPE).


The AHO is a statutory authority, established under the Aboriginal Housing Act 1998 (NSW) and plans, administers and expands the policies, program and asset base for Aboriginal housing in NSW.

This includes resource allocation, sector-wide policy, strategic planning, and monitoring outcomes and performance in the Aboriginal community housing sector. In order to achieve this AHO receives funding from both the NSW and the Australian Governments.


About the role

The team at AHO are currently seeking 2 x dedicated Project Officer (Targeted) to manage and implement a range of projects, in line with the directorate's responsibilities.

This work strives for continuous improvement in AHO service delivery and operations and contributes to better outcomes for Aboriginal people including individuals, families, groups and communities.

There are 2 separate Project officer roles, which focus on separate portfolios.

Project Officer


The Project Officer role is within a high performing team who focus on the growth and strategic management of the AHO's housing portfolio.

The team works to ensure that the AHO portfolio is fit-for-purpose and is well placed to help meet the housing needs of Aboriginal communities across NSW into the future.


The Project Officer within this team, will play an important role in achieving annual targets associated with new housing supply and ensuring AHO compliance with NSW Asset Management Policy as well as supporting the delivery of the AHO's capital programs.


Essential Requirements:

  • Experience (2+ years) and/or tertiary qualifications in a housing, property, architecture or town planning field is highly desirable.
  • Current NSW Drivers License as the role requires occasional business travel across NSW, including overnight stays
Project Officer - Construction

This role sits within a construction delivery focussed sub-team alongside other construction Team members, supervised by the Construction Manager.

The team works to ensure that the AHO portfolio is fit-for-purpose and is well placed to help meet the housing needs of Aboriginal communities across NSW into the future.

The Project Officer - Construction is entirely focussed on the project management of residential construction projects.

They are responsible for delivering projects to build new Aboriginal social housing across NSW, managing projects throughout all stages including delivery, procurement and the preparation of tender documentation, design review and sign-off, and construction project management.


Essential requirements:

  • Experience (3+ years) in successfully managing the delivery of low and mediumdensity residential construction projects is essential. Experience within the NSW Public Sector is not essential but desirable.
  • Familiarity with systems including SAP and TRIM (CM9) is an advantage but not essential as onthejob training will be provided.
  • Current NSW Drivers License as the role requires occasional business travel across NSW, including overnight stays

About you
You are a dedicated Project Officer with experience managing and implementing a range of property and asset related projects. You will be familiar in working in a fast-paced environment characterised by conflicting priorities and multiple stakeholders.
