Job Purpose

The Technical Officer within Sustaining Engineering - Knife Gate Valve (KGV) Strategic Business Unit (SBU) will report to the Engineering Manager.

Involving both Order and Product Engineering related tasks, this position would suit a person with general mechanical engineering work experience.

Primary focus is fulfilment of customer orders for existing products which may include engineer-to-order designs for accessories and actuation.

Participation in product portfolio initiatives, including design for manufacturing support and documentation for production will form part of the role.

Key Responsibilities:

Sustainment of KGV products including: creation of material numbers and boils of materials, CAD and documentation, and production support
Assist with preparing technical response to sales enquiries, and technical evaluation of suppliers and critical manufacturing processes
Preparation of Inspection and Test Plans to meet customer specifications
Team member on value engineering projects, assisting with designs, create/review CAD Models and Drawings, BOMs, and associated documents

Skills Required to be successful:

Sound general mechanical engineering skills
Proficient in CAD preferably SolidWorks
Competent in written and verbal skills
Thoroughness in documentation, attention to detail

Educational and Work Experience Requirements:

Tertiary qualification in mechanical engineering or technical field would be an advantage
Experience in CAD and associated documents for mechanical parts is essential
Experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment, and in SAP would be an advantage
