Position Information:


Melonba High School is a new site located in the new suburb of Melonba near Marsden Park and it will open at the start of 2024 with Years 7 and 8 students.

It is expected to experience rapid growth enrolment in the first 5 years of operation. When completed, the school will have capacity for 2000 students.

The school will incorporate an innovative and future focused educational model, reflective of agile teaching and learning areas while also supporting the welfare needs of students.


Selection Criteria:

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, demonstrated capacity to establish.

lead, manage and support whole school wellbeing initiatives which allows the development of teacher capacity, encourage student voice, establish school priorities, and cultivate an understanding of wellbeing.


Ability to lead the establishment, development and implementation of proactive, student-centric, inclusive whole school wellbeing strategies and policies to respond to student wellbeing/welfare requirements.


Demonstrated ability to develop highly productive partnerships and collaborate with a wide range of external support services, DoE Student Wellbeing Support Directorate staff, families, and communities to support student wellbeing.


A proven commitment and ability to work as part of the executive team focusing on establishing the school's strategic vision and whole school priorities.


General Selection Criteria:


  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
