Our client is seeking an experienced Environment Technician in Canberra who is excited to join a company who is looking to bring to life a portfolio of projects ensuring sustainable sources of energy, developing rural communities, spreading state of the art renewable technologies, and helping to prevent weather changes resulting by greenhouse gas emissions.

In this role, your responsibilities would include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of environmental compliance programs
  • Undertaking audits and inspections in site and office environments
  • Undertake reporting to environmental authorities
  • Participate in Health and Safety Environmental (ISO certification process.
  • Traveling Interstate to our facilities
  • Organising and coordinating environmental activities with our contractors
  • Attending prestart meetings and deliver took box talks
  • Conducting Incident investigation and management including reporting and action follow up
  • Working with site and office teams ensuring compliance to current environmental legislation
  • Maintaining accurate records and data utilising company and external systems
  • Developing and delivering environmental awareness training sessions for employees & contractors
  • Communicating with other departments within the company regarding environmental issues that may affect them
  • Participate in developing and implementing environmental policies and procedures to prevent workplace incidents
  • Performing risk assessments to determine the potential for accidents or injuries in specific activities or work settings, develop strategies to prevent them from occurring
  • Advising managers about effective ways to manage their teams and contractors in an effective manner
Skills & Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science/Management or Environmental Engineering
  • 35 years experience in a related industry, in an environmental role
  • Excellent Knowledge of environmental legislation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A high level of critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • A high level of computer skills
  • A high level of organisational skills
  • A passion for continual improvement of environmental performance
  • Ability to lead and motivate on site teams in environmentally sustainable practices
  • Auditor qualifications are highly desirable
