As a Manager, Policy and Legislation, you will manage the day to day operations of a dedicated policy and legislation team including supervision of projects and staff, performance assessment, mentoring, coaching and effectively utilising resources to meet the Office of Regulatory Policy's strategic and business goals.

You will be required to provide strategic policy advice, research and analysis on liquor and gambling (including harm minimisation) related issues to senior executives and the Minister.

We are looking for a team member who can work under pressure both autonomously and lead a high-performing team to prepare quality written documentation such as cabinet submissions and discussion papers and drafting instructions.

You will be required to establish, shape and foster relationships with the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation, Office of Fair Trading, government agencies, industry peak bodies, community groups, and other external stakeholders.

Why Work for LGFT:

Liquor, Gaming and Fair Trading, DJAG, are regulators for the liquor, gaming and Fair trading sectors in the community.

We empower consumers and minimise harm, while at the same time ensuring markets are safe, fair and responsible. We represent the interests of Queenslanders everywhere through 13 office locations across metropolitan, regional and rural areas.

The Office of Regulatory Policy undertakes policy and legislation services for the Government and our operational branches in relation to the legislative and regulatory frameworks for liquor, gambling, consumer protection, occupational licensing, associations and cooperatives, charitable fundraising organisations and activities as well as community titling and body corporate governance matters.

We also develop and manage harm minimisation programs for liquor and gaming.

Our people have a diverse range of technical skills and experience in public policy, the law, behavioural sciences, academic research and development of evidence-based solutions.

Our team is intelligent, innovative, friendly and has a passion for minimising harm and assisting Queenslanders to live in a fair, safe and responsible society.

Using research, community comment and industry input, we provide advice to Government to help solve complex problems and make balanced decisions in the public interest.

Due to our involvement with Cabinet and Parliamentary processes we are predominately located in Brisbane City.

While there are no mandatory qualifications for this role, qualifications in law, public policy, or other degrees relevant to the role will be favourably regarded.

Practical experience in policy and/or legislation development is essential for fulfilling the key responsibilities of the role.
The temporary position is available for 6 months (with possible extension).
