The role:

Based in our Osborne Park head office in Perth reporting to and supporting the Chief of Staff, this role calls for an experienced reporter looking to take the next step in their career.

The Deputy Chief of Staff will play a hands-on role in newsroom operations, and will:

Have a keen news sense, and a knack for storytelling
Assist in the curation of the daily news list
Help manage and mentor reporters
Assign and brief reporters on stories
Write and help rewrite copy
Liaise with reporters and managers in different departments
Help with forward planning and assist with rostering of staff
Brief senior editors on stories and projects

The requirements of the role include:

Extensive experience as a reporter
Strong social media skills and knowledge of the media landscape
Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills
Willingness to work in a fastpaced, deadlinedriven environment
The ability to keep calm under pressure
A bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field is preferred but not essential
