Financial Services partner with all areas of CommBank to provide specialist advice on financial management and strategy. This advice covers finance, audit, treasury, investor relations, security, general procurement and property.


The Risk & Control Advisory & Delivery team is responsible for ensuring that strong controls are in place and decisions are well informed, timely and socialised.

They achieve this through providing an end to end risk and control service, including the effective design & implementation of controls, ensuring the operational risk & compliance frameworks are effectively implemented in Group Treasury and also ensuring the Group Treasury LT has the right level of comfort and governance within their risk environment.

This role will report to the Executive Manager.

Group Treasury as part of Financial Services is accountable for the management of the non-traded market risk for CBA, including interest rate, foreign exchange, funding and liquidity risks associated with the Group's lending and deposit taking business and the investment of shareholders' funds.


Group Treasury's remit also incorporates capital optimization, as well as the assessment and monitoring of the Group's overall balance sheet performance.

It owns and executes a liability and funding strategy consistent with an objective of balance sheet optimization while adhering to the regulatory requirements.


The Treasury Controls Office (TCO) Team provides direct support to the Group Treasurer and the broader Group Treasury Teams through pro-active assessment and management of Group Treasury's non-financial risk management.


TCO is subdivided into two teams:
Operational Risk (Ops Risk) and Regulatory Conduct & Compliance Risk (RC&CR).

The Operational Risk team is responsible for co-ordinating and embedding the CBA Group Operational Risk framework for Group Treasury.

We provide guidance to the Group Treasury business so as to align their activities to the effective management of Operational Risk.

This roles impact and contribution includes but is not limited to:

  • Providing support on operational risk matters across a Group Treasury Portfolio
  • Developing and improving processes through automation and visualization
  • Managing and leading projects when and as needed

Your Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the design and implementation / support of the business to design and implement controls and to enable better risk and compliance outcomes.
  • Responsible for ensuring risks are profiled and captured in the Risk Profile (RCSA) and update when risk trigger events occur.
  • Responsible for reporting on operational risk and control profiles, issues, incidents and other matters
  • Work effectively with Line 2 and Audit to determine optimal course of action to remediate any findings.
  • Process improvement / automation of processes to streamline work.
  • Engage with people across various parts of the Group Treasury and wider Group; stakeholder management and communication skills are paramount in this role.

We're interested in hearing from people who have:

  • 3 to 5 years in banking with an understanding or background in Treasury, Institutional Trading or Market operations is preferable, but not necessary
  • Strong analytical and commercial skills, with demonstrated ability to draw insights from analysis
  • Attention to detail, curious mindset and sound judgement skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal, written communication skills and critical thinking skills with a keenness towards innovation and ability to drive results
  • Intermediate/Advanced Excel skills expected and Tableau and Alteryx skills preferable
