The Opportunity


The EGM - Environmental Services Role is responsible for the performance of the Environmental Services Customer Stream, a grouping of 9 Profit Centres within the McMahon Services Australia business which deliver related environmental services within the construction industry.


In order to achieve this, you will oversee and manage the performance of 9 service lines and the largest area of self-delivery within the McMahon Services companies through the allocation of the Plant and Equipment and People.

The Service Lines you will be responsible for and manage are:

  • Industrial Services
  • Demolition and Decommissioning
  • Asbestos Remediation
  • Blasting and Painting
  • Scaffolding
  • Western Australia
  • Safecheck
  • Victoria
  • New Zealand
This is an Executive Role reporting to the Managing Director.

You will be a member of the McMahon Services Executive Committee.

This means you will be required to attend the monthly executive committee meetings, prepare an annual strategy paper, reforecasting monthly on the financial outlook for these Service Lines (SLs), as well as reporting regularly on their strategic progress around service delivery and performance.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Marketing, Business Development and Tendering_
  • Assisting Managers with their strategy around the marketing of SLs both internally and externally.
  • Creation, Implementation and Execution of the Annual Strategic Development Plan for each of the Service Lines.
  • Project Delivery & Resources_
  • Oversee the operational delivery by each manager of their SL and monitor efficiency and performance
  • Implement a clear resource tracking solution around plant and resource management within each SL
  • Financial Management_
  • Monthly Financial Forecast Reporting and reporting on actuals to the Advisory Board
  • Regular Asset Planning and Management around the Return on Assets
  • Annual Budget Preparation for the SLs to be presented to the Executive Committee.
  • People Leadership and HR_
  • Assist your SL's with staff retention strategies and staff performance management
  • Adequately resource the SL's to drive good service delivery but maintaining cost controls and keeping overheads as low as possible
  • Commercial, Procurement and Contract Management_
  • Assist the General Managers with Procurement and Investment Decisions around New Plant and Equipment
  • Work with Legal around the terms and conditions and warranties for capital purchases
  • Risk, WHSEQ_
  • Ensure your General Manager's are across compliance requirements and driving best practise in this area
  • Work with WHSEQ to ensure Risk is managed well for each type of Asset class and operations within your SLs
  • Customers and Stakeholders_
  • Develop strong relationships with key customers and foster partnerships that lead to ongoing opportunity for the wider McMahon Services Companies
  • Drive best practise in the Customer Stream by putting the Customer Experience above everything else, and inspiring your staff and stakeholders to do the same

About you

  • Proven experience in a similar Executive position
  • A background in Finance/Commercial roles
  • Preferred
  • A visionary who is able to inspire others and create a great culture
  • Experience in leading high performing teams and achieving demonstrable outcomes
