Why Your Role Matters:


The Recruitment Officer plays a key role within the Future Students team at Nura Gili Centre for Indigenous Programs, helping to promote the value of a University education to Indigenous high school students, non-school leavers and the Indigenous communities.


As the Recruitment Officer, you will be responsible for supporting Nura Gili by facilitation and coordination of access pathways into undergraduate and postgraduate degrees for Indigenous peoples.

This role is instrumental in working in collaboration with Faculty and Divisions to increase Indigenous enrolment numbers across all UNSW campuses.

The role reports to the Future Students Manager and has no direct reports.


Some specific accountabilities for this role include:

As the Recruitment Officer, you will be able to implement and coordinate detailed project plans in collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders within time and budget constraints to continually improve Indigenous recruitment outcomes.


You feel confident to provide timely advice to prospective Indigenous Students, their parents, and high school staff as well as internal UNSW stakeholders, to drive faculty recruitment numbers into undergraduate and postgraduate (course work) degrees, with a particular focus on increasing matured aged engagement and enrolments.

You may be required to assist in organising and delivering outreach activities such as road shows, open day, info day & community events.


You will have an understanding of High School ATAR or equivalent, and of University admissions, policies and procedures which will enable you to create and deliver tailored presentations for outreach that are suitable for communities and align with UNSW Future Students messaging and branding.

Previous experience working in Tertiary Education is ideal.


Who You Are:


  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience; preferably in education.
  • Knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Indigenous Australian cultures and contemporary issues. (Experience working with Indigenous students is desirable).
  • Sound knowledge of teaching and learning pedagogy to facilitate pretertiary learning experiences.
  • Demonstrated high level ability to plan, schedule and manage projects within set timeframes and allocated resources.
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills, including capacity to connect with a varied audience and develop strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • High level organisational skills with proven ability to deal with multiple tasks, establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • A full and unencumbered driver's license and the ability and willingness to work outside of normal working hours and work at locations across Sydney, NSW and other states.
