for a Permanent Full Time position

35 hour week with a day off every 4 weeks Attractive salary package for the right applicant**

Opportunity Awaits

Reporting to the Manager Open Spaces, Recreation and Building Maintenance, this role forms the critical link to ensure the development of strategic business programs and objectives that are required to drive the strategic direction of the Open Spaces and Building Maintenance department.

Embedding continual improvement and best practice across the team, you will take responsibility for maintaining a strong customer focus aligned with business deliverables.

Your passion for innovation and navigating solutions within a fast paced and complex environment whilst managing a variety of stakeholders will be key to your success in this role.

You are an expert in strategic development, leading innovation initiatives to deliver on the outcomes desired by the organisation and will be responsible for developing and sustaining cultural change and strategic direction to support the integrated service delivery.

You are a master at stakeholder negotiations and resource management and thrive on influencing, managing and guiding various stakeholders to ensure high standards of business service are maintained.


Selection Criteria:


  • Degree in Business, Horticulture, Landscape Architecture or equivalent, combined with significant relevant experience or lesser formal qualification with extensive experience.
  • A passion for workplace safety with proven results.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to engage and influence a diverse team of professional and semi-professional staff in an operational service delivery environment.
  • Evidence and understanding of a continuous improvement mindset and methodologies.
  • Strong instincts to anticipate and mitigate the impact from reputational risks.
  • A strategic thinker who is comfortable with ambiguity and can navigate tactical solutions to achieve objectives.
  • Excellent experience in aligning funding sources to service delivery and developing budgets to drive transparency and accountability.
  • Substantial experience in developing forward works programs, project management, contract management (including associated administration), community consultation, project scoping and quantity surveying.
  • High level of communication skills, with superb writing and editorial skills, particularly the ability to distil complex ideas into accessible internal and external communications to a diverse audience in a clear, fluent and concise manner.
  • Well-developed analytical skills to handle complex and sensitive issues.
  • Relevant professional work experience with a focus on procurement, business intelligence and/or advanced analytics interpretation and management.
  • Remarkable understanding and experience in developing and implementing Contemporary Community Engagement practices.
  • Experience working with large, fast-paced, complex organisations and outstanding interpersonal skills, with the gravitas to represent the Open Spaces and Building Maintenance team with both internal and external audiences.
  • Professional experience in workforce management/resource planning, reporting or statistics.
  • Current Driver's licence.
